Hi guys, I didn't know where else to post this one, so it got pinned.
There has of course been a lot of comparisons between German and Danish desert patterns, and the overall consensus was that German wüstentarn is generally more brown or pinkish in base color, with fewer and less dense spots of browns and greens, and the Danish M/01 is more sandy in color with a tighter spot pattern.
Only the other day I received (yet) another German desert parka, and immediately saw it was different, both in construction and in color scheme.
I looked at the tag and sure enough; it was a 1993 Truppen Versuch parka. And I couldn't help but see how intermediate it seemed to the Danish pattern, so here are a few comparison pictures, maybe not the best in the world, but I think it's fun to see the three patterns together.
First current German and Danish:
Closer up:
Now I throw the TrVsu in the middle:
Again closer up:
And here they are, all snuggled up together:
Now I know it's not the most scientific of comparative analysis, but the differences and similarities are quite clear IMHO. The Danes clearly stayed close to the TrVsu colors but went with a more direct translation of the M/84 woodland pattern spots, whereas the Germans clearly opted for a color change.
Hope you enjoyed the little experiment
