I have this greek backpack in my Collection, I think from the 50s or 60s.
I know that the flap is for the helmet.
Did somebody know for what the straps at the side and top are Used ?
For a blanket or a Coat?

Yes Marc, the straps are probably for a horseshoe-shaped blanket role, or for the greatcoat.

These packs show up fairly often, but I have trouble finding many other pieces of Greek 1937 pattern. Here is a belt and a pistol ammunition pouch. I believe that both are Greek made.

    Thank you for your reply.

You are right, greek pattern 37 Equipment is not easy to find. A few days ago I got these photos showing greek soldiers in the 1950s with some pattern 37 kit.

    Nice images!

Part of the problem, I think, is that Greek WE 37 is usually unmarked, and is often mistaken for British or Indian WE 37, or passed off as such. As a consequence, it is difficult to find, because a lot of sellers may not know that they actually have Greek webbing, or they may believe that it has no market, so they advertise as British webbing.

I think you are right with your thoughts about the Greek webbing. On the other hand it is possible to use british or indian webbing (ammo pouches, belts, straps, water bottle) for a Greek soldier from 1950s, because, I think, they use all things they can get.

Yes, of course. I am sure that a lot of original WE 37 remains in Greece.
