Actually one of the surplus shops here in town has Slovak woodland. I've got the desrt and woodland. I'll see if he wants to sell it.
FYI, the slovak and czech republic desert camo appears to be the same pattern.

    Chris,
I would definately appreciate it, I have looked all over the place and it is just nonexistant. That is interesting that it is the same desert camo pattern

Now I am curious as here is a shot from Henrik's site of Czech Republic desert but says it was produced back during czechoslovakia's days. So what is this pattern...not current?

Actually looking at the two pics side by side it's quite differ. so wonder if the Czechs adopted the same pattern as slovaks.

STeve Grammont can answer that one.

    Chris,

So they wore ballcaps instead of say boonies etc. I would imagine they at least had helmets with covers for out in the field??

    Very nice pics

    Steven,
They also wore boonies, see the pic of my uniform with the boonie cap on it. They did wear helmets, here's a pic of one of the slovak vehicles and helmeted slovak soldier.

    Chris,

Sorry, I saw the boonie & totally did not pay attention to it. So did they have helmet covers as it looks like the helmet the guy is wearing does not have one. What kind of helmets are they wearing? Are they Slovak made or older type? I am just curious. also Are they still there in Iraq or have they pulled out?

    Steven

PS I am moving this thread to Gulf War II forum due to the neat pics & info

    Steven,
None of the pics I have show a cover. It appears to be a us type kevlar helmet but can't be sure, lots of the coalition forces (including some of the polish troops wore the US style helmet) No idea of manufacture origin.

The Slovak contingent pulled out sometime in 05 I think.

My friend finished his second tour in Iraq and is sending mean 10 DVDs full of jpg images!! I got 5 from his previous tour in 05.

    Chris,

That is interesting about the helmets, everyone seems to use the US ones. I wonder why countries don't just bring their own. I remember seeing photos of GROM operators wearing US 3 colour BDUs. or atleast portions of US gear.

10 DVDs, you lucky dog, what is that like tens of thousands of photos?

I will post a few pics of GROM for everyone up in the Poland section.

    Steven,

What you have there is the 1st Model Czech Desert Camo. It is based on the vz85 pattern and was rushed into service in the mid 1990s. There was a couple of different badge configurations on the left arm. In fact, hold your sleeve up to the light and you might see signs of the older type having been removed! I have an example where you can see clearly where the original style (a sort of pointed shield type) was removed and the new type sewn over it.

Current Czech uniform is ripstop with different features and different colors, but the same camouflage pattern.

The boots look like standard issue. The double buckle top is a popular Central/Eastern European style.

As for Slovakian stuff... I recently got a temperate and a desert set, complete with boonies and temperate hat. Paid a premium for them, but after years of trying to get some I wasn't going to argue Very Happy Sportsmans Guide has the temperate field jackets for sale.

I'll try to post some pictures sometime soon.
