Just a small correction to the theme if you don't mind: there was no "M65" helmet. During the Cold War-era the M1950 and the M1970 type helmets were used. By the very end (around 1989-90) came the M1970/90 version (the main difference is the lack of the shiny plastic coating seen on M70 helmets). This latter is still in use today.
