British Jacket lightweight-Gulf War.

Here is a Gulf War issue British Lightweight Jacket, from my collection

Zip and Buttons to do it up

Again shiny material label,with makers name,J Compton and Sons and Web

Left arm ,Pen Pocket

Right arm,Field Dressing pocket

Epaulettes

And finally the Pattern

You seem to find lots of these Gulf War 1 desert shirts, all in great condition!

Ok,I confess another ebay purchase

I wish I could claim,that I dug these out of a surplus container full of GW kit,but sadly no !.
There are none left in my surplus store's,or on any on-line Militaria sites....

Interestingly,it was'nt until yesterday,that I realised,this jacket is the same in every aspect to,a Jungle trop jacket I picked up recently ( apart from the camo obviously),Field Dressing pockets on sleeves etc, which in weird way helps me to to date ,the forsaid Trop shirt!!!

I love it when clues off one piece help identify another! Makes the hobby that much more fun.

i have an identical piece, except that there is a 'Sid Little' written in the shirt

Ah,Army nicknames, in my sqaud there was a guy ,whose surname was lacey...so we called him Boots, whereas mine was biscuit...don't ask long story

They are very lightwieght and dry fairly quickly, and are generally oversized so ideal for warm climates..get one Mate, you won't regret it

Gulf 91 kit is one of my favourites,probably have around 6 of these shirts in total so took pics of these 3 that were close at hand.

Not the 2 different type of buttons used.

Nice jackets Rich, I too have several of these, my favourite one one has reflective tape sewn to the upper arms , and is the only one I seen in many years of collecting this era kit

It first Two tone desert pattern. MoD quickly changed it in present desert Two tone camo from small patches because this design was too light.
