Any stamps or tags? The pattern looks vaguely like a hunting pattern I have seen out of Russia before.

It's not in Desmond's book so if it was anything experimental or issue it probably would be newer than his publication. I've not seen much he missed when doing his book, but the floodgates on Russian stuff were opened up wide soon after.
