While I was fosicking in the walkin wardrobe I use to store my camo I found this comercial windproof smock,
It is made from ripstop DPM fabric cut the same as the 68 patten windproof smock and 4 front bulgy pockets fastened with slotted and taped buttons, the hood is made in 3 sections with an adjustment tape in the back. It has a green plastic zip with no makers name and a velcro fastened storm flap, there is a rank tab on the chest a pen pocket on the left upper sleve and a FFD pocket on the upper rear of the right sleve the smock is well made but the velcro on the cuffs is not correctly made they lack the adjustment tabs this is a pity, the only lable is the small woven one sewn in the neck with a yellow L and no makers name.

I have desert one of these like yours in ripstop, cheap as chips £10 on eBay. Mine has print running vertically and looks funny but cool at the same time.

These were pretty common in the 80s. I know it is a commercial item, but I believe they may have been private purchase items, and used by some units.

Rip, yours looks like my "Survival Aids."

The buttons... dark green like that.

Did it have a cordlock on the hood, at some point?

    Hey D,

It still does have a strangely placed cordlock. It is on the back, under the hood.

Hi Rip I would have had a flat black with a white locking wheel cord lock on the front draw cord of the hood but not on the back as far as I know

    Hi Loski

Yes, it is as you describe.

I think the cord, and cordlock can be moved from front to back, and back to front (duh),

I remember using it on the back, but that can probably be attributed to early senility...

By the way, no labels at all . Pity.

    Thanks, ripcord

We used to put the draw cord loop and cord lock over the hood so it hung down at the back so it didnt get in the way while puting on and taking off the smock.

That is exactly how I used it..

Funny how the end user always finds the best way to use what he has to work with..
