I guess that's why some of us are called 'collectors'? Very Happy

I love this pattern too, and the quality of the old pieces must be proff of near indestructablility, with all those uniforms still around!

Hi Ronnie Very Happy Exactly my point: 1 for the collection and maybe 1 if you like wearing the stuff but 5 and willing to get more ?!! I would concede that collecting is about getting different pieces rather than the same piece multiple times.

I think I lack the mentality to be a proper "collector" Wink

Passing your way in June but sadly lacking the time to stop to make your acquaintance. I'm heading up through Denmark and Sweden to Nordkapp and back down the Norwegian coastline and then through the Harddangervidda. Next time I promise !

    Dear Dave,

Yeah, I suffer from too many doublets as well, but only of the stuff I really dig!

You, and all the rest of you, are welcome to stop over in my little town of Copenhagen and say 'hi'!

Nordkapp and all of the Norwegian fjords are some of the planets most beautiful places, a real eigth wonder of the World! Enjoy!

Swiss Leibermuster M70 coat Empty more& more & more &...

Post by ripcord Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:00 pm

    Hi Dave,

I have multiple Alpenflage, NWUs, BDUs, Spanish Amoebas, and others..

Some I actually use, others I just collect.

I have started a few people on the road to collecting with the
beautiful, and rugged Alpenflage. It is a great entry item, and
    very affordable.

It is widely available now, but it was not always so.

One of my favorites actually dates to when these uniforms
    were not available at all...

I did buy one more this morning....Cant beat $ 14.99....

I spent a lot of time documenting the different varieties of the two primary patterns and uniform features. Which means I have a 20kg box loaded with Leibermuster stuff. Such a silly thing to do Wink

The thread with my documentation is on this Forum somewhere.

Having lots of one camo is fine but alas i lack the funds and space to be a surplus warehouse and would rather chuck the money into multiples into something i don't have.

I was just curious why someone would do it so thanks for the explanations Very Happy

Many years ago I had several opportunities to get a bunch of Leibermuster stuff very cheap. $5 a piece or so. At the time the sets were selling for $35 and I figured at some point they would run out and the price would go up. My plan was to sit on them for a few years and then make a nice profit. Little did I know the supply of this stuff, even after nearly 20 years, is still showing no signs of petering out!!

It was only after having it all in on place at one time that I realized how many variations there were. Since I hardly had any money into the pile, relatively speaking (I've spent $100 on a belt for example), it was just a matter of finding a place to stash them. Up until recently space wasn't an issue.

Jumpsuits are not made with enough crotch space for the size balls one would need to wear it in public, so nobody blames you Very Happy

You have balls of steel Laughing So far it's the one camo pattern I haven't had the balls to wear so haven't ventured into buying. I'm on the fence about this pattern it's like Marmite - you either love it or hate it Laughing

When these first hit the market in the early 1990s I wore the trousers to a conference where I was exhibiting product. Also wore Mlok, but that's another story Wink Anyway, one of the guys exhibiting near by came over and asked me how the Hell I could possibly wear such awful crap! He explained he was in the Swiss Army and the only thing worse than wearing this uniform was, apparently, death. I explained that I liked wearing them in an overly air conditioned exhibit hall, but agreed I'd never want to wear the damned thing out in the field!
