I noticed some differences in the tissue the UK uniforms use for "tropical" and "temperate" weather.
Of course that's logic.
In the MTP range they use a 70% cotton/30% polyester mix for tropical/warm meather,
a 67%polyester/33% cotton mix for temperate weather,
and a 50/50% Cotton polyester mix for the windproofs such as smocks and so.
also the "tropical" version has a super "open" weave, after a few washes after new it's really nice to wear on a hot day when a wind is blowing.
the "temperate" version though I found a bit thin and cold for a "temperate" british fall/winter.
I also have a long experience with dutch uniforms, and what the British now call "temperate" was the dutch "summer/warm weather" version.
they had for a "temperate" version a tissue of 65/35 cotton/polyester almost twice the (tissue) weight of the UK "temperate" version.
Why would the MOD use such a light tissue for the (not so warm) UK winters?
