Estonian stuff
Here are some pics of some Estonian stuff, which belongs to a friend of mine. He's a Sgt in the Austrian army and he did some uniform exchanges while he was on a peacekeeping mission in Bosnia.

Re: Estonian stuff
Uhh ... that actually looks Estonian ... I'm pretty sure the colours on the field cap cockade are white/black/blue
Nevertheless, just as rare - nice uniform!

You're right... I always mess things up with the former Soviet republics.
Thanks for the correction

Re: Estonian stuff
Here are pictures of my new arrived Estonian stuff. I got another T-Shirt and desert boots along with this stuff, but forgot to take pics of them. Note the Woodland type uniform is not like Gilles' or the one in the pictures he posted (nor like the one I already have in my collection). Also note the difference in the desert digital between the Goretex set and the field uniform.

Very nice. I have a friend who just finished his service in the Estonian Army, next time I see him I'll ask if he has any pictures I can share.

Re: Estonian stuff
I just talked to my Estonian friend. He tells me that their army doesn't usually surplus things, its more common to just stick it in reserve and reissue until its useful life is run out. You guys with these kits are very lucky to have gotten them.

Re: Estonian stuff
2011? They are currently using a digital pattern in a different cut, so are you sure about that? 2004 or 2005 is the timeframe for this type. Does your tag say something different? Mine has a 2004 date clearly printed.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Estonian stuff
Still confused about this. The uniform was issued in 2004-2005 timeframe. I don't know why there would be a 2011 date. The only difference I can see between this and the ones I've seen in theater is the velcro on the right arm. At the time these were issued they sewed the badges directly onto the uniform.

Re: Estonian stuff
That is SO ODD! The original is ripstop, this one is smooth cotton? Well, so much for the theory they used up some old cloth.
I really don't know what to make of it. I've seen no evidence of it used in Afghanistan (the Estonians LOVE to take pictures of their forces) and it would be a really odd thing for them to have this alongside the digital stuff.
Maybe they manufactured it for their interpreters??

Re: Estonian stuff
Yes It's smooth cotton. I think this is the same as material of estonian early desert camo uniform.

Re: Estonian stuff
So very strange! I will try and look through a few hundred 2011+ pictures and see if I can find even one that shows it in use. Because the number of Estonian soldiers in Afghanistan is so small, and they like to take many pictures, if I can't find a picture of it in use I would conclude this is not an item actually used in Afghanistan. At least not for Estonian soldiers.
